Get to Know: Karen

  • What is your name?  Karen Griffin
  • Where do you live?  I have been living in Gilbert, but am in the middle of moving to Chandler (Jan. 15th)
  • How many years have you been in the card swap? (2009? 2010? 2011?) sometime in 2009
  • How long have you been making cards? I started making cards just a few years ago.  My sister, Marilee Garbison, got me started.  We scrapbook together and she showed me what she was doing with her leftover scraps of paper, stickers, ribbon, etc. and suggested that it would be right up my alley.  Well, after a few tries, I was hooked.  Now I make cards for fun, for gifts, and I have even made thank you cards for new brides.
  • Where do you get your ideas?  (online, magazines, friends, classes, stores, etc.) I get a lot of my ideas from scrapbooking, but once upon a time, I was actually an Art major in college, and I've also done a lot of arts and crafts over the years, including painting, sewing and cake decorating.  This is why my style is so "cutesie."
  • What do you like/look forward to about the card swap?  I like the card swap because it gives me the opportunity to be creative and to share it with others.  I also like to see the terrific cards that come back to me--ideas that I might never come up with on my own.  The envelope of cards is the one piece of mail I look forward to the most.
  • Anything else you'd like to share?  Because I am a little "older", I tend to be very traditional, but I'm learning a lot about new techniques and materials from you ladies in the card swap.  I consider it an honor to be included with you very talented ladies.
  • Do you have a blog? What’s the address?  I do not have a blog, or facebook and I don't even know how to twitter.  I barely pay attention to my email (my kids remind me to go online).

Get to Know: Sharryl

  • What is your name?  Sharryl Hales
  • Where do you live?  Gilbert, AZ
  • How many years have you been in the card swap? (2009? 2010? 2011?) This'll be my second year. I started in 2010.
  • How long have you been making cards?  Since college.  Had a roommate who was a stamper/card maker.  She got me hooked.  And 20 years later I'm still at it.  Even though postage is outrageous, I still love to send cards.  There's nothing like getting something wonderful and personal in the mail - so I love the thought of doing that for other people.
  • Where do you get your ideas?  (online, magazines, friends, classes, stores, etc.)  I'm a Close To My Heart consultant, so I get a lot of my ideas from their idea books.  I used to get Papercrafting and loved their ideas.
  • What do you like/look forward to about the card swap? I like how it forces me to sit down and create.  I also love getting the swap and seeing the fun talents and creative ways of others.  It gives me ideas...
  • Anything else you'd like to share?
I love Mounds candy bars, and chocolate Chex Mix.  I love to read and travel.  Most of my "extra" time is spent with family, church and my Close To My Heart business.  Best part about living in Arizona: the weather.  Even when it's 110* outside - I love it!  Besides, my birthday is in June - so Summer rocks!
  • Do you have a blog? What’s the address?
No blog, but my website address is:  http://asksharryl.myctmh.com
